Vynce Leff
Composer - Orchestrator - Songwriter
Producer - Music Video Maker - And More
FOREWORD
It is no secret that music is of paramount importance for any film or TV series. Lately I found that some film producers overlook its role and tend to use generic colorless and bland music, that ruins the final result, literally flattening emotion expression or heroic action. On the contrary, carefully and meaningfully tailored music, specially composed for characters, situations and actions, definitely help to give depth and life to the image.
After more than 20 years composing for different bands, orchestra and choir, I’ve found myself involved in a few film projects and felt that I could help giving them that sparkle of life that I crave for.
Feel free to contact me and let’s talk about your next ambitious project!
BIOGRAPHY
MORE THAN 20 YEARS OF MUSIC FOR BANDS, ORCHESTRA, CHOIR
Vynce started his musical career with several albums in the progressive rock genre. He released his first album “Les Regrets” with the band SENS in 1999, followed, after a change of name of the band to SAENS, by “Escaping From The Hands Of God” (2001) and “Prophet In A Statistical World” (2003). He explored a wide range of styles from classic progressive to modern atonal music, reaching heights of complexity with the dodecaphonic inspired piece “Les Souffrances du Jeunes Pierre”.
He then composed two albums with the progressive rock band SENSITIVE TO LIGHT: “Almost Human” (2006) and “From The Ancient World” (2007), starring the Scottish singer Jenny Lewis, with some Celtic inspiration.
More and more interested in orchestration for symphonic orchestra, he created WHYZDOM in 2008, a perfect blend of metal and classical music, which still is one of the most successful symphonic metal acts in France (Award of the Best French Symphonic Metal Band, winner of the Metal Female Voices Fest Contest in 2008). Five albums were released from 2009 to 2022: “From The Brink Of Infinity”, “Blind?”, “Symphony For A Hopeless God”, “As Time Turns To Dust” and “Of Wonders And Wars”, all showcasing powerful orchestral and choral movements, with a very overall cinematic feel, that is especially prominent in the band videoclips.
As director and editor of all these videoclips, as well as Special FX designer, it was natural to get involved in some other video projects, like “Highlander Dark Places” (Retcon Media) for which a new version of Bonny Portmore was recorded, or “Le Corbeau” (not yet public), by Emmanuel Jego and Samuel Vergnaud, based on Edgar Allan Poe short story “The Raven”.
Participating in 2022 to the Indie Film Music Contest, he was ranked 7th at this international competition for the rescore of the film Time Trap.
